Nacho Carbonell & Maartje Korstanje
The world, nature and the sea with all their secrets as well as the way we relate to them, are major sources of inspiration for artist Maartje Korstanje (1982). Looking at the rugged biomorphic sculptures made out of papier-mâché combined with other materials, all of which she models herself, associations with sea monsters or dredged up treasures spring to mind. Nacho Carbonell (1980) visualises objects as living organisms. He designs furniture in hybrid shapes that remind of animals, cocoons, or nests to crawl away in.
