Museum Card

With a Museum Card you can enjoy unlimited access to more than 500 museums in the Netherlands for a whole year. You can also buy a Museum Card at The Groninger Museum. This can be done at the physical ticketcounter in the museum.

We are no longer using the corona measures. With this, the museum follows the guidelines of the Dutch government. For more information on the current corona measures, go to rijksoverheid.nl

If you have bought your ticket with a discount, you are obliged to show your Museumkaart, Student/College Card, CJP, Friend of the Groninger Museum, ICOM card, Rembrandt card, VriendenLoterij VIP-KAART at the museum.

A photo or copy of the discount card is not valid.

The Museum Café got a whole new look! The restyling is the work of the leading designer Maarten Baas. Visit the café for a lunch in Italian of Portugese style. Fancy a cup of coffee during your visit? There's also a new espresso bar in the entrance hall or, the Lobby, as it's now called.

The museum shop is open during museum opening hours.

Travel by public transport
The Museum is situated opposite Groningen Central Station and within walking distance of the city centre. Plan your trip via 9292.

Travel by car
Approaching Groningen via the A7 or A28 (via Zwolle), from the 'Europaplein' onwards follow the direction signs to 'Centrum'. Then follow the P-route which will enable you to park your car in the city centre. Along the P-route, digital signs indicate whether or not space is available in the car parks ('vol' (EN: full) or 'vrij' (EN: spaces available)). If a car park is full, follow the parking route to the next one.

If you wish to stay in the city centre longer, it is more convenient and less expensive to park your car on the edge of town and take the P+R Citybus to the city centre. As you approach town, signs will indicate the way to the nearest P+R Citybus point.

Flying to the Netherlands and Groningen
The most important airport in the Netherlands is Schiphol Airport near Amsterdam. Groningen Airport Eelde is conveniently close.

Car parks
If you wish to park near the Museum at a favourable charge, we advise you to go to the Q-Park Museum Centrum car park (on the ‘Zuiderdiep’ avenue).

Note: if you want to park on the Ubbo Emmiussingel next to the museum, keep in mind that you have to pay a parking fee on Sundays between 12AM and 5PM and that parking is allowed for a maximum duration of one hour.

Long-term stay

Special parking spaces
For drivers with a disability parking permit, there are two parking spaces available on the Ubbo Emmiussingel.

The Groninger Museum is easily accessible to both wheelchairs and mobility scooters. There are a few wheelchairs and walking frames available in the museum. There also is an accessible toilet. Visitors in possession of an ‘OV-begeleiderskaart’ can bring one wheelchair assistant for free.

Drivers with a disability permit can park on one of the two specially reserved parking bays in the Ubbo Emmiussingel, adjacent to the museum.

If you want to borrow a wheelchair, it is advisable to book one in advance. This can be done either by calling +31 (0)50 3 666 555 or by email. After we received your request, we will be in touch as soon as possible.

Museum entry is free for kids and youngsters under 18. Kids can do an exciting scavenger hunt or celebrate their birthday party at the museum. Children aged 7 to 12 can join the JuniorClub: groningermuseum.nl/juniorclub.

Walk-in atelier
Kids, parents, and grandparents are welcome in our atelier on Saturdays and Sundays between 12AM and 5PM to get to work with different materials. You do not need to sign up and taking part is free.

Children

See, hear, feel, make! So you're creative and you like to discover and do new things? The Groninger Museum is the place to be for you. Children and juniors up until 18 years old have free entrance to the museum.

House Rules

There is camera surveillance in the museum

In the museum are free lockers available for small bags and coats. Large luggage is not permitted in the museum and exhibition rooms.

Touching the art displayed at the Groninger Museum is not allowed.

Photographing tor personal use is allowed. Using flash and tripods is not.

You may make drawings {using crayons, not ink or paint) in the exhibition rooms, provided your sketch book is not larger than 22 x 28 cm. The use of an easel is not permitted.

The other visitors of the Groninger Museum thank you for switching off your telephone before entering the exhibition rooms.

Food and beverages can be ordered and enjoyed exclusively at the café and in the lobby. It is not allowed to bring food or drinks to the museum.

The entire Groninger Museum is smoke-free.

With the exception of guide dogs no pets are allowed at the Groninger Museum.
